Local News

A MEMBER of the Comanchero outlaw motorcycle gang (OMCG) will appear in Bathurst Local Court charged with fraud and counterfeit cash offences.

Earlier this year, the Gangs Squad’s Strike Force Raptor began investigations into the cultivation and supply of cannabis in the Central West.

On Wednesday, August 23, Strike Force Raptor – assisted by the Public Order and Riot Squad - executed a search warrant at a home at Oberon where they seized numerous items, including counterfeit currency.

A 45-year-old man was charged at the time with drug and firearms offences.

Following further inquiries, the 45-year-old man was arrested by Strike Force Raptor at Bathurst police station on Wednesday, November 15.

He was charged with two counts of using counterfeit money knowing it to be counterfeit and dishonestly obtaining a financial advantage by deception.

The man, who is a member of the Comanchero OMCG, remained in custody to appear at Bathurst Local Court.

Strike Force CRaptor was established by State Crime Command’s Gangs Squad in 2009.

It is a proactive and high-impact operation targeting outlaw motorcycle gangs and any associated criminal enterprises.
