A BIKIE has spectacularly failed to flee a police intercept in Richmond this afternoon, running a red light before smashing into a car.

Police stopped five patched members of the Mongols bikie gang as they rode through the busy intersection of Bridge Rd and Punt Rd at 2pm.

Four of the bikies stopped but the fifth, a 35-year-old Endeavour Hills man, tried to escape before he quickly crashed into a passing car.

No one was injured and the bikie was arrested by Public Order Response Team officers.

But the action did not end there, with a 20-year-old Moe man then allegedly assaulting police during the interception.

Victoria Police spokesman Sgt Kris Hamilton said all five men would face court on various charges.

The Endeavour Hills man will be charged on summons with failing to stop for police, running a red light and unlicensed riding.

The Moe man is facing charges for assaulting police, unlicensed riding and riding an unregistered motorcycle.

Sgt Hamilton said a 27-year-old Oakleigh man and a 23-year-old Mulgrave man would be charged on summons with unlicensed riding, while a 22-year-old Wheelers Hill man faces charges for driving while disqualified and riding an unregistered motorcycle.
