Arrest of National CMG President

Yesterday afternoon members of Taskforce Maxima arrested the National President of the ‘Comanchero’ Criminal Motor Cycle Gang on the Gold Coast.

A 29-year-old man from New South Wales was arrested at the Coolangatta airport as he arrived in Queensland. He was transported to the Southport Watchhouse and charged with making threats.

The charges relate to an incident in which it will be alleged a man threatened to kill a Queensland Police officer on the Gold Coast in December 2012.

Detective Inspector Brendan Smith of Taskforce Maxima stated, “This arrest and the ongoing conduct of gang leaders provides another example of unlawful activity carried by these Criminal Gangs and the threat they pose to community safety.

“The arrest sends a message to Gang members that unlawful actions will not be tolerated and enforcement action will be taken at every opportunity, regardless as to where they reside.”

The man is to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court this morning.
