A TINY piece of information has led to the discovery of drug lab equipment, explosives, guns and drugs during a police operation targeting bikies and ice manufacturing in the North East.

Two homes in Wodonga, a property in Wangaratta South and the Tramps Wangaratta clubhouse were raided by more than 60 police on Wednesday.

One of the homes belongs to a key Tramps member, who is still wanted by police.

Officers allegedly found six unregistered guns, including pen pistols, a cannabis crop and precursor chemicals or drugs at the man’s property.

The bomb squad was called to the Tramps clubhouse in Frank Hayes Drive after explosives were discovered.

Three properties had equipment used to manufacture drugs, but there were no active drug labs operating.

Specialist officers spent hours at the properties examining chemicals, equipment and other items after the early morning raids.

A couple were arrested in Schubert Crescent in Wodonga and charged with possessing material to manufacture drugs, drug trafficking and possession.

Glassware was seized and the duo were later bailed.

Police also raided a home in Horsfall Court and found drugs and drug paraphernalia, but the occupants were not home.

Links between club members and the Wodonga homes are being examined.

Detective Senior Sergeant Garry Barton said the investigation was still at an early stage.

"This is not a fly-by-night investigation,” he said.

'We will turn every stone to get to the bottom of this.

"We are extremely motived to stop drugs in our community.

“As we've found today, drugs are often connected to other items like guns and stolen items.”

Some members of the Tramps had their guns seized and licences cancelled in 2012 after being deemed “not fit and proper”.

Members from the Echo Taskforce, which targets outlaw motorcycle gangs, joined Wednesday’s raids with the bomb squad and clandestine laboratory squad.

Police hope it will impact North East drug supply.
