Guns, drugs and cash seized during bikie-related raid in Canberra
Police have seized guns, drugs and cash in a bikie-related raid in Canberra's south.
About 11.30am on Friday, detectives from ACT Policing's special bikie taskforce swooped on the home of an outlaw motorcycle gang associate in Banks.
They seized a sawn-off shotgun, trafficable quantities of drugs including cannabis, MDMA tablets and prescription drugs, along with cash suspected to be the proceeds of crime.
A 25-year-old Banks man was arrested and will face the ACT Magistrates court over firearm and drug charges.
On Monday, Crime Manager Detective Sergeant Mark Steel from ACT Policing Criminal Investigations said this was an excellent result for the taskforce.
"Disrupting and dismantling the criminal enterprises of outlaw motorcycle gangs and their associates is ACT Policing's number one priority," Detective Sergeant Steel said.
While another man was arrested in Flynn on Saturday after police seized guns, drugs and stolen goods, an ACT Policing spokeswoman confirmed Taskforce Nemesis had ruled the incident out and it was not bikie-related.
Six rifles and more than 1000 rounds of ammunition were seized from the Flynn home.
The man, who was also wanted on a first instance warrant, will face court on Monday.
