Rebels bikie Bill Irvine was charged with
stealing and wilful damage of the signs – which were on display
in Bleijie’s electorate of Kawana – after a visit by officers
from the Sunshine Coast gang squad on Tuesday.
A police spokesman said it would be alleged
that a 47-year-old Currimundi man stole one of Bleijie’s signs
from Kawana Way, Meridan Plains on Sunday.
He allegedly spraypainted and put stickers on
two more Bleijie campaign signs on Albatross Street, Aroona just
before 6pm on Monday afternoon.
Solicitor John Cook said his client, who had
no criminal history and was “a hard-working man”, would contest
the charges.
Irvine is due to front the Maroochydore magistrates court on 3 February.
