Raids targeting people allegedly linked to Mongols bikie gang nets guns and drugs

UPDATE: A SHEPPARTON man with alleged links to an outlaw bikie gang has been refused bail following taskforce raids across Victoria on Saturday morning.

Stephen Milic, 29, appeared at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Saturday night charged with a number of offences including possession of drugs and possession of firearms.

He will reappear in court on Monday at 9.30am.

The court heard Mr Milic is a member of the Mongols bikie gang, which has interstate and overseas connections, and visits its Port Melbourne chapter weekly.

It also heard he suffers from depression, anxiety and panic attacks and has a daughter and two stepchildren.

His mother and visibly distressed sister attended court on Saturday night.

Two men and a woman with alleged links to the outlaw motorcycle gang were also taken into custody following warrants being executed in Melbourne, Shepparton and Echuca this morning.

Anti-bikie taskforce Echo detectives arrested the trio about 8am as they seized firearms and ammunition along with weapons including knives and a baton.

Drugs were also allegedly found.

A 32-year-old Echuca man and 34-year-old Echuca woman were also being questioned by police.

A Victoria Police spokesman said the community could be confident that Victoria Police were placing a strong focus on any criminal activities associated with outlaw motorcycle gangs and any other groups and their criminal activities impacting regional areas.
