Bikies to face court on drug charges after tip-off

UPDATE MONDAY: A tip-off to police has resulted in five members of an outlaw motorcyle gang facing the force of the law on Monday morning, charged with dangerous drugs offences and illegal gang activities.

Raids over the weekend in Calliope, Agnes Water, Mt Morgan, and the Gold Coast resulted in a series of charges for the long-standing (more than 20 years) members of the Odin's Warriors.

Police will allege in court in Gladstone members of that gang, and a number of other people closely linked to them, have been trafficking and supplying methylamphetamine and cannabis and growing cannabis on rural properties.

Calliope resident Tina Skyring-Quirk was surprised to hear there had been a search in her town.

"Calliope is a strong family-orientated community," she said.

"This (raid) will just make us stronger and more aware of what's going on in our neighbourhood and to look out for one another more."

Gladstone MP Glenn Butcher said he supported the VLAD laws, although his party was reviewing them.

"I'd be surprised if the laws that are in place are relaxed at all," he said.

"We will take a very tough stance on this."

Two Captain Creek men aged 56 and 32 face trafficking and supply charges.

A 58-year-old Agnes Water man and a 60-year-old Mount Morgan man have been charged with participating in a criminal organisation and "knowingly being present in a public place whilst members in a criminal organisation".

The fifth man, also charged with the latter offence, lives on the Gold Coast.

SUNDAY: In the past 24 hours a number of search warrants have been executed in Agnes Water and Calliope as part of a Task Force Maxima drug trafficking operation.

Two Gladstone members of the Odins Warriors Criminal Motorcycle Gang have been charged with the serious offences of trafficking, supplying dangerous drugs and producing dangerous drugs.

They will appear in the Gladstone Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Two men from the Gold Coast and Mount Morgan have also been charged.
