THREE members of the Black
Uhlans motorcycle club allegedly tested positive for drugs after police
swooped on the bikies as they rolled off the Spirit of Tasmania to start
a three-day “run”.
About 130 bikies rumbled off the ship and then congregated at a
clubhouse in Stoney Rise Rd, Devonport, before hitting the road.
Inspector Glenn Lathey of the Serious Organised Crime Division said
three gang members recorded positive oral fluid test results. The
results of subsequent blood tests would be known in a couple of days.
Insp Lathey said the Black Uhlans were generally well-behaved on day one
of their annual National Run.
A TT-Line spokesman said there were no incidents on the voyage across
Bass Strait.
Western District Acting Commander Tim Dooley put the group on notice
before they arrived, saying their activities would be monitored.
