Magistrate upholds charges against alleged bikie gang members

  • A TOWNSVILLE magistrate has upheld charges against three alleged Rebels bikie gang members, after he was yesterday asked to throw out the case.

This morning Magistrate Ross Mack found there was sufficient evidence to support the case against Kiel Vaughan Collins, 41, Jason Michael Heang, 32, and Dominic Michael Muhling, 30.

The trio have pleaded not guilty to being participants of the Rebels motorcycle club and knowingly being at a Deeragun gym at the same time on December 3 and 4, 2013.

Lawyers Andrew Anderson and Peter Callaghan called for the charges to be dismissed yesterday, arguing there was no case to be answered.

But after adjourning overnight, Mr Mack today ruled against that submission.

Mr Anderson and Mr Callaghan then made an application for a stay of proceedings.

Mr Mack adjourned the application to May 7 and the trial was effectively put on hold.

Heang, Collins and Muhling were all allowed bail.
