In the midst of a white wedding, surfers heading to the beach and people relaxing with a coffee, the visit sparked a major police response.
Dozens of officers descended on Coolum's holiday strip to interview about 35 members of the heavily-tattoed group considered an outlaw motorcycle club.
The drama escalated after the bikies, wearing full colours, dodged a planned police intercept on the Bruce Highway.
The Hells Angels, many from the Brisbane chapter and some from interstate, were taking part in a "run", their term for a social ride and get-together.
Sunshine Coast Inspector Jason Overland said the police response had been sparked by a series of "driving incidents" involving members of the group.
"There were some issues identified on the ride and that's why we are here," Insp Overland said.
"They took a different course of action to the one we expected," he said. Police officers could be seen writing traffic infringement tickets.
The Courier-Mail understands some of the riders will be charged with offences under hooning legislation.
Police will monitor the Hells Angels during their stay at the luxury Coolum Caprice resort.
The visitors looked set to enjoy a few beers, seen carrying cartons of Corona and low-carb Pure Blonde from a nearby bottle shop.
