Police closing in on Sydney bikie's killer

Members of the Lone Wolf Motorcycle gang.

Members of the Lone Wolf bikie gang have been involved in several violent incidents recently.

Police believe they know who is responsible for the fatal shooting of a Lone Wolf bikie gang member in Sydney's south last week.

The revelation came to light today in a court hearing for two associates of the dead man, John Leger, 32, and Matthew Lewis, 23.

Leger and Lewis were with Neal Todorovski when the 37-year-old was shot dead after a brawl outside his Sans Souci apartment last Wednesday.

The two men have been charged with affray and concealing an indictable offence.

Leger was also charged with possessing a prohibited weapon.

The two men applied for bail in Sydney's Central Local Court today, but police strongly opposed it because of concerns about reprisals and the protection of witnesses.

In response to a question from the magistrate, police said they had identified but not arrested the gunman.

Bail was eventually refused, with Leger and Lewis due to return to court next week.

A funeral for Mr Todorovski is expected to be held on Saturday.

Police said last week that the three men had confronted and assaulted the killer before he opened fire.

The shooter escaped in a black Land Rover four-wheel drive.
