Five men have been charged with attempted extortion after alleging stealing four cars from a Sydney car dealership on Thursday, before returning them undamaged two days later.

Police said the men were arrested after entering racehorse owner Terry Mullens' dealership on Parramatta Road, Burwood about 3.30pm yesterday wearing bikie gang colours , an employee told the Herald yesterday.

The men allegedly demanded money from Mr Mullens.

The five men - a 24-year-old man from Eastlakes, a 26-year-old man from Merrylands, a 27-year-old man from Roseberry, a 29-year-old man from Baulkham Hills and a 30-year-old man from Auburn - were charged with demanding property with menaces and participating in a criminal group.

They were refused bail to appear in Burwood Local Court today.
