Vic policeman charged after bikie brawl

A POLICE sergeant has been charged with criminal damage following a brawl with Bandidos bikie gang members in Victoria.

The policeman, from the Melbourne-based transit and public safety command, has been suspended without pay and will face court over an incident in Echuca on April 6, Victoria Police said on Friday.

Two policemen were injured, with one hospitalised for facial injuries, following a fight between several off-duty officers and Bandidos members at a licensed venue in Echuca.

Local detectives, overseen by police professional standards command, have been investigating the incident, police said.

The sergeant has been ordered to front the Echuca Magistrates Court on July 23 on the criminal damage charge.
