Police have targeted members of the ‘Rebels’ Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMCG) participating in an event at the group’s national clubhouse in Sydney’s south-west over the weekend.
The operation was conducted by officers from the Gangs Squad’s Strike Force Raptor with assistance from South West Metro Region Enforcement Squad (RES), Highway Patrol vehicles and the Traffic Services Drug Testing Bus.
During the operation, police conducted numerous vehicle stops, vehicle searches, person searches, random breath tests and drug tests.
As a result, officers charged five people with drink-driving offences; two with possession of a prohibited drug; and one with disqualified driving.
Police also issued several traffic infringement notices, including 20 for non-compliant motorcycle helmets.
Strike Force Raptor was established by the State Crime Command’s Gangs Squad in 2009 and is a proactive and high-impact operation targeting outlaw motorcycle gangs and their alleged associated criminal enterprises.
