Perth bikie Troy Mercanti denied bail over assault

PERTH bikie Troy Mercanti, who is facing a string of charges including assault and trespassing, has been denied bail.

Mercanti, 44, appeared in the Perth Magistrates Court today via video link from from Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, where he is receiving dialysis for a kidney condition.

The Finks bikie member was arrested last month for allegedly smashing his way into a home in Perth's north.

He also faces charges related to an attack on his long-term partner Tammy Kingdon, who is currently under police protection.

Magistrate Paul Heaney said it would be inappropriate to grant Mercanti bail because he could not be certain that Mercanti would not try to contact Ms Kingdon and other complainants.

Mercanti has not pleaded to the charges. His case was adjourned until April.
