Charges have been dropped against eight men accused of possessing more than $1 million worth of methamphetamine following a raid on the Head Hunters gang headquarters.

The High Court at Auckland rang with whoops and exultations today as Cain McFarland, Christopher Morris, Anthony Neho, Mark Barnes, Craig Patterson, Nathan Hemana, Lee Bell and one other were discharged by Justice Tim Brewer.

Crown prosecutor Kieran Perkins told the court the prosecution would continue against David James Dunn, the president of the West Auckland chapter of the gang.

More than 1kg of methamphetamine was found during a raid at the gang's View Rd headquarters in March last year.

Dunn has been charged with possession for supply.

His trial is scheduled for November 12 but will be significantly shorter now the number of accused has gone from 11 to one.
