A former federal Liberal Party president says the Prime Minister, John Howard, should be tried and punished for war crimes.
John Valder told a Sydney peace forum yesterday the invasion of Iraq was one of the great military atrocities of our time.
"Bush, Blair, and Howard, as leaders of the three members of the coalition of the willing, inflicted enormous suffering on the people of Iraq. And, as such, they are criminals. I believe the only deterrent to a repetition of the Iraq situation is punishment in some form as war criminals."
