Police have charged two bikies following a brawl involving members of
two rival motorcycle gangs in Newcastle.
Police said several Rebels bikies were drinking at a pub on Hannell
Street, Wickham when 10 members of the Life and Death motorcycle gang
dressed in full colours entered Saturday afternoon.
"A short time later a violent altercation occurred between the Life and
Death outlaw motorcycle gang members and a number of Rebels bikers who
were already at the location," a NSW police statement said.
"Batons, knives and lengths of timber were used as weapons during the
incident."
Police said a large number of Rebels bikies were celebrating the opening
of a new clubhouse at Tighes Hill nearby.
Riot police, polair, the gangs squad, police state protection group and
traffic police attended the incident.
Two men have been charged with affray and having custody of an offensive
implement in a public place.
They were released on conditional bail to appear at Newcastle Local
Court at a date to be fixed.
