Police thanked for outlaw bikie gang crackdown
POLICE Minister David Campbell has congratulated the NSW Police Force on
their continued crackdown on outlaw motorcycle gangs.
Operation Ranmore began in May, 2007 and has so far led to the arrest of
390 gang members and associates.
Mr Campbell said the operation had sent a clear message to those
motorcycle gang members who wanted to carry out criminal anti-social
behaviour.
“These people need to know violence, intimidation, drug supply and fraud
will not be tolerated,” he said.
Operation Ranmore has led to 195 assault charges, 181 drug charges, 106
property offences, 100 outstanding warrants and breaches of bail being
acted on, and six sexual assault charges.
Mr Campbell added 111 charges had been laid against gang members using
NSW’s tough anti-gang legislation.
“Outlaw motorcycle gangs should know that police are out to get them and
they will not rest until they have locked up those who break the law,”
he said.
