Biker arrested over blackmail bid
Wednesday, 23 January 2008
An alleged member of the Rebels motorcycle club has been charged with
blackmail, threatening to kill and other offences after being arrested
in the northern suburbs
South Australian police alleged the 41-year-old went to an address in
Parafield Gardens yesterday to collect a $10,000 payment from his
blackmail victim.
When he arrived at the home he was detained by detectives from the Crime
Gangs Task Force.
"He was arrested for the offences of blackmail, making threats to kill,
aggravated assault, possession of a pistol, possession of a sawn-off
shotgun and other offences," a police spokesman said.
The man was expected to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today.
"Police are conducting further investigations in respect to two other
suspects who were involved in the blackmail," the spokesman said.
