Awards shooting charges withdrawn
Charges have been dropped against an Adelaide man who was alleged to have
fired gunshots at the South Australian dance music industry awards last
year.
More than 600 people were at the
awards night at Football Park in May when the gunshots rang out.
Michael Thorn Massingham, of
Semaphore, was charged with endangering life, discharging a firearm with
intent to cause injury or damage, and possessing a firearm without a
licence.
Police had alleged the 39-year-old was
a member of the Rebels motorcycle gang and that he fired the shots during a
dispute with rival Hells Angel members.
Massingham's lawyer Craig Caldicott
had previously told the court that video evidence failed to identify his
client as the person who fired the shots.
Today, in the Port Adelaide
Magistrates Court, prosecutors withdrew the charges.
