A MILLIONAIRE pharmacist has
pleaded guilty in Brisbane to producing drugs for West Australian
bikie gangs.
Prabhaw (known as Peter) Singh, 61, pleaded guilty to two counts
of producing a dangerous drug between August and October 2001 in
Brisbane.
Singh was using codeine from the cold and flu product Sudafed to
manufacture methylamphetamines, commonly known as
"speed", which was sold to WA-based motorcycle gangs.
Fiji-born Singh, who owned three chemist shops on Brisbane's
northside, had assets worth about $7m at the time of his arrest
in October, 2001.
Singh, whose trial was supposed to begin today, instead pleaded
guilty in the Supreme Court in Brisbane and was remanded on bail
for sentencing before Justice Anthe (Anthe) Philippides on May
11.
