Police probe bikie assault claims
Police in south-west Western Australia are investigating whether members
of the Coffin Cheaters motorcycle gang assaulted a woman at a hotel in
Manjimup on Friday night.
More than 30 bikies were drinking at the hotel, when a local woman was
taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Great Southern police were forced to call for reinforcements on Saturday
night, when the group refused to remove their colours while drinking at
a Denmark hotel.
Great Southern Superintendent John Watson says the situation was
resolved without incident.
"Local police were outnumbered, so I sent reinforcements there, even the
gang response group, canine section and our DRG [drug reference group]
members were also in attendance," he said.
"We've all got to learn to live together and get on with each other, but
there's got to be an understanding there's one set of rules and
regulations for everybody, the law does not discriminate."
