AUSTRALASIAN BIKER NEWS

DARWIN prostitutes are living in fear of reprisals from a sex industry turf war led by bikie gangs, Australian news reported.

A local sex industry worker, who did not want to be identified, said there was great hostility and tension between the escort agencies and private sex workers.

The source said she believed the murders of sex workers Phuangsri Kroksamrang and Somjai Insamnan earlier this week were linked to the growing tension in the NT sex industry.

The bodies of the two Thai prostitutes were found partly-naked and floating near the Adelaide River Bridge, 64km southeast of Darwin, last Wednesday.

"It has sent a ripple of fear through the workers," she said. The source said tactics used to intimidate girls working in the sex industry included beating them up or starving them of income by not allowing them to work.

"If the girls don't want to f*** a drunk man for $85 they get in trouble," she said. "If you don't want to be in the industry any more you find yourself dead in the river."

The source said she believed several of the escort agencies involved in the turf war were controlled by the outlaw motorcycle clubs Hells Angels and Rebels.
