A gang which has existed in Christchurch for around three decades
has been put into liquidation.
Epitaph Riders Motorcycle Club is about to be removed from the New
Zealand companies register.
It is not the first time the once notorious gang has been in
financial trouble. In 1999 Inland Revenue began action to force the
gang into liquidation, however a former member, Bruce O'Malley,
bailed it out by buying it for $1.
The total costs recovered from the Epitaph Riders was around
$39,000.
The gang set up in Christchurch in the 1970s and was last in the
headlines when three members were convicted of gang raping a
14-year-old girl in the mid-1990s.
