Police have charged 27 people with drugs and weapons offences following
raids on members of motorcycle gangs in south-east Queensland.
Police raided
properties on the Gold Coast and several more around Gympie, north of
Brisbane, in an operation aimed at the illegal activities of the members of
motorcycle gangs and their associates, police said.
Detective Inspector
John Hartwell said five properties on various parts of the Gold Coast were
raided and police recovered drugs and concealable guns.
"Four people have been
charged with six charges related to possession of illegal weapons and
drugs," Detective Inspector Hartwell said.
In the Gympie raids,
which police said were connected to the Gold Coast raids, 45 police searched
properties, resulting in the arrest of 17 people on 27 charges, including
possession of Cannabis and amphetamines and property related offences.
The raids were a
follow on from last week when 14 Gold Coast properties were searched and six
people were arrested and charged.
During those raids detectives seized cash, drugs and illegal concealable
weapons including stun guns, a knuckle-duster and extendable batons.
Police said the people
charged had been released on bail to appear in court at dates to be listed.
