Police investigating shooting warn public not to approach biker

Queensland police have warned the public not to approach a motorcycle gang member, who is wanted for questioning over a Gold Coast shooting.

A 30-year-old New Zealander remains in a serious condition in hospital, after being wounded five times at Main Beach on Friday night.

A 28-year-old man has been charged, but police also want to speak to Yassar Bakir, 30.

Acting Detective Inspector Neville Huth says he could be dangerous and might try to leave Queensland.

"Obviously he would have the ability to quickly move interstate, I think the propensity for violence has certainly been demonstrated by Yassar Bakir as a result of this particular incident," he said.

"We ... obviously look to locate him at the earliest possible opportunity."
