THE trial of five bikies accused of waging a revenge bombing
campaign against a retired Perth detective has been adjourned
until next week.
The prosecutor in the case, Ken Bates, has asked for a further
adjournment after falling ill on Monday, and Judge Allan Fenbury
today told the jury not to return until next Monday.
Graeme Slater, Leslie Hoddy, Richard Samuels, Robert Stupar and
Gary White all deny either planning or planting the bombs that
devastated the home and businesses of former Perth chief of
detectives Don Hancock in October and November 2000.
The five, all connected with the Gypsy Jokers bikie gang, are
said to have waged the bombing campaign, to avenge the death of
fellow member Billy Grierson, who was shot dead in Ora Banda on
October 1, 2000.
Hours earlier, Mr Grierson had been ejected from the Ora Banda
Historic Inn in the WA Goldfields town, which Mr Hancock owned,
after a dispute about swearing in front of Mr Hancock's daughter
Alison.
The gang believed Mr Hancock shot Mr Grierson, prosecutors have
said.
