Senior Outcast on
remand
A Victorian man said to be the sergeant-at-arms of the Outcasts
motorcycle club was remanded in custody yesterday after facing
Wangaratta Court on firearms counts and a charge of unlawful
imprisonment.
The bail application of Mr Sherwin Williams was adjourned yesterday part-heard.
The court heard police searched Mr Williams home in Wilson Rd, Wangaratta on Tuesday and found three long arm rifles and a pistol.
Also found upstairs were buckets of faeces and urine.
Police said Mr Williams wife spent time in the room upstairs and was afraid to leave.
A container containing 83g of white powder was found under a bed.
Police said Mr Williams was a risk because being the sergeant-at-arms he was the clubs third most senior rank after the president and treasurer and his role required him to enforce punishment.
Mr Williams told the court he knew nothing about the guns.
He said the Outcasts were a registered corporation and were required to have a treasurer and president.
Magistrate Mr Peter Couzens adjourned the application to Wangaratta Court today to allow police more time to prepare material.
