The second of two senior Nomads outlaw motorcycle club members arrested this morning has been charged by Gangs Squad detectives.

The 41-year-old man was arrested at 11.30am today at a house in Renwick Street, Marrickville, and was taken to Newtown Police Station for questioning.

He was subsequently charged with shoot at person with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm, riot, affray and common assault. He was refused bail to appear in Newtown Local Court this afternoon.

Meanwhile, another 41-year-old man is due to appear in Parramatta Local Court this afternoon charged with attempt murder, two counts of discharging loaded arms with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm, riot and affray.

He had been arrested without incident at a unit in Campbell Street, Parramatta, shortly before 11am. During the execution of a search warrant at the unit, Gangs Squad detectives will allege they seized a pistol, ammunition and a Mercedes Benz coupe valued at almost $500,000 and alleged to be proceeds of crime.

Detectives also seized a Harley Davidson motorcycle and six rifles during the execution of a search warrant at premises in Cowper Street, Granville.

The charges laid today relate to an incident involving a large number of men at a house in Chin Chen Street at Islington on Sunday 12 September 2004.

Two 31-year-old men were found by police at the premises suffering serious head and facial injuries. One of the men was also suffering gunshot wounds to both legs.

A short time later two men, aged 45 and 48, arrived at Mater Hospital suffering head and facial injuries. The 45-year-old man was also suffering gunshot wounds to both legs.

Gangs Squad detectives are continuing their inquiries into the incident.
