CANNABIS with a street value of up to $6 million has been seized by police only weeks before it was to hit the streets.

Up to 2000 cannabis plants – equivalent to at least 500,000 street deals – were found growing in a glasshouse on a property at Undo Rd, Waterloo Corner.

Vegetables were grown on the inside perimeter to give the impression the glasshouse was being used legitimately.

"This would be one of the largest glasshouse finds we've had in South Australia for some years," said Acting Detective Inspector Glenn Jeffries of the Drug and Organised Crime Investigation Branch.

Detectives raided the property about 1.30pm Wednesday and arrested a Salisbury Downs man, 34, who had been camping in a shed near the glasshouse, allegedly guarding the crop.

The shed housed a bed and kitchen area behind a false wall.

Police seized a loaded semi-automatic pistol.

"He obviously has been living in the shed and has been working here," Insp. Jeffries said. Police said the pistol was found in the shed and it appeared someone had been guarding the property around the clock.

Inside, a tent was among the semi-mature plants which would have been harvested in about three weeks.

Further arrests have not been ruled out. Evidence at the property and the scale of the operation suggests more than one person was involved.

The man was charged with producing cannabis for sale and was bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court next month.

Meanwhile, police from the Avatar Motorcycle Gang Section raided the Pelham St, Ethelton home of a Finks Motorcycle Club member. Detectives seized four cannabis plants, 2.5kg of dried cannabis, cash and a .32 calibre revolver.

A 37-year-old man was charged with firearms and cannabis offences. He was bailed to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court at a later date.

And a 41-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman were charged over a cannabis crop of about 400 plants found in their Glen Osmond backyard yesterday.
