SA Hells Angel charged over firearms and cash

11 Apr

Cops from Avatar (anti biker squad) yesterday conducted a raid at a house on Franklin St, Flinders Park and allegedly located a lever action rifle, two stolen chainsaws, a whipper-snipper, $10,000 in cash and bottles of liquids suspected to be drugs.

A 36 year old man who is a member of the Hells Angels has been arrested and charged with firearms offences and unlawful possession of the cash, and will appear in court at a later date.

The man was also charged with possession of an unlicensed pistol which related to the alleged location of a .45 calibre semi-automatic pistol at Antigua Grove, West Lakes on February 11th. At the time of this raid, another member of the Hells Angels was arrested for firearms offences, and a second member was arrested at a Thomas St Unley address at which a revolver was located.

Inspector John Gerlach, Officer in Charge of Avatar said: "This seizure today follows a number of other seizures of firearms from members of the Hells Angels and demonstrates a total disregard for the law by these members. Police will not tolerate the possession of illegal weapons and other unlawful activities by motor cycle gangs and will continue to police these activities at every opportunity."
