SA Hells Angel shed approval kept off agenda

South Australia's, Port Adelaide-Enfield Council, has approved a controversial application by the Hell's Angels motorcycle club in Mansfield Park.

The media have learned the council approved the development on Tuesday night after the item was deliberately left off the agenda.

It is understood the council's administration made the decision to keep it off the public agenda to prevent the media from reporting on the matter.

The development was passed unanimously three months after it was lodged. The development was an application to build a 500sq m shed in Trafford St, Mansfield Park, with the owners reported to be members of the bike club.

The meeting also was told that a police anti-corruption investigation had not found any evidence of intimidation towards councillors from the developers. It also said there was "inconclusive" evidence that councillors were.

When asked if the matter was kept off the agenda to keep the media away, a council source replied: "clearly".

"Last time it was discussed there were television cameras there," the source, who did not want to be named, said.

The issue has created widespread attention after it was claimed some councillors had received death threats.

The council had deferred the application despite its administration initially recommending it be approved.
