Brawling bikies get a spray

CAPSICUM spray was used to subdue four people - believed to be
Finks bikie gang members - during a scuffle with police at a city
nightclub yesterday.
The incident erupted at the Rise nightclub, Light Square, about
8am as a uniformed police patrol conducted a routine check on
licensed premises.
The two officers asked a man, whom they believed to be drunk, to
leave the club premises and he allegedly refused.
The scuffle then broke out in which the officers were assaulted
but not injured.
The capsicum spray was used inside the club.
Police back-up was called and another 10 officers arrived.
The four people arrested - three men and a woman - are believed
to be members of The Finks or to have links to the motorcycle
gang.
They included a 40-year-old Salisbury South man, arrested for
failing to leave a licensed premises, assaulting police and
resisting arrest.
A 40-year-old Salisbury Heights man was arrested for hindering
police.
A 34-year-old Seacliff Park man was arrested for hindering arrest
and a 34-year-old Salisbury Heights woman was arrested for
failing to cease loitering and assaulting police.
Police spokesman Senior Constable Mick Abbott said the four were
bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court at a later
date.
The nightclub, which usually remains open until noon on
Saturdays, was closed after the incident.
The Sunday Mail was unable to contact the nightclub's managers
yesterday.
Finks members are believed to have been involved in more than 30
illegal incidents this year, including drug offences and several
bashings at other city nightspots.
Among them was a clash between gang members and patrons at a
Hahndorf pub on the Easter long-weekend which resulted in the
arrests of two men for assaulting and hindering police.
Another brawl at a Norwood hotel in March saw four people injured
and another three men, all aged in their 30s, charged with
assault.
In March, a Finks member was charged with firearms and cannabis
offences after a raid on an Ethelton house.
A stand-off in late February between police and about 30 Finks
associates at Grange led to seven arrests.
