Two men charged after firearms during
vehicle stop - SCC gangs squad
11 August 2006
Detectives from State Crime Command’s
Gangs Squad have arrested six males after allegedly seizing firearms during
a vehicle stop at Abbotsbury in Sydney’s west.
Acting on information received, police
stopped the vehicle on Cowpasture Road at 11.40am today.
Officers allegedly found a pistol and
sawn-off shotgun.
The occupants of the vehicle were
arrested without incident and taken to Liverpool and Green Valley Police
Stations for questioning.
A 29-year-old Mt Pritchard man was
charged with possess prohibited firearm, possess unregistered firearm and
possess ammunition.
A 25-year-old Dundas Valley man was
charged with possess loaded firearm in public place, possess firearm with
altered identification, possess unauthorised pistol, possess unregistered
firearm (prohibited).
They have been refused bail to appear
in Parramatta Bail Court tomorrow.
Four other males were released by
detectives pending further inquiries.
Police believe today’s arrests could
have prevented a confrontation between two rival gangs.
The arrests follow inquiries by
detectives attached to Strike Force Clode, which was established to
investigate an ongoing dispute between two outlaw motorcycle gangs.
Investigations are continuing.
