Police track car after fatal shooting
13 June 2005

Police investigating the killing of Hamilton gang associate Dwayne Andre Wilson are tracking a vehicle they believe left the scene shortly after his death.

The body of Mr Wilson, 30, was found dead with a gunshot wound on June 7 at a property at Waingaro, northeast of Hamilton.

Sources say he was closely associated with the Tribesmen motorcycle gang, which police say are heavily involved in drug distribution.

The gang operates in Waikato, Auckland and Northland.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Whitehead said police now have a description of the car they believe left the Waingaro Rd property after Mr Wilson was fatally shot.

Police are distributing a flyer with a photograph of the vehicle, a dark red, burgundy or maroon mid-1990s model Ford Telstar TX5 with mag wheels.

A car matching this description was seen travelling north on State Highway 22 away from the scene shortly before 4am on June 7.

Mr Whitehead said the examination of the scene and adjoining property was ongoing and could take a number of days to complete.
