Australian bikie gangs go
global
An international law enforcement conference on bikie gangs has been
told gangs are expanding their influence all over the world.
Delegates from around the world are attending the Perth conference.
They have been told gangs such as the Hells Angels are threatening
to expand in Australia.
Australian gangs are also going global, with the Western Australian
Coffin Cheaters setting up chapters in Norway.
Deputy Superintendent John Langmoen, from the Norway police, says he
expects the gang to take part in the lucrative illicit drugs market.
"We're afraid that they're going to kind of rock the boat where
Hells Angels and Bandidos are already established," he said.
"They have to get into the market, they don't establish across the
half the world just for fun."
The conference was also told gangs are going beyond the drug trade,
expanding into in areas including people smuggling and sex slavery.
