WA drug bust points to "bikie gang" says Watson

WA cops suspect OMC involvement in a January $80,000 drug haul.

Police raided 15 homes as part of Operation Ippon .

Great Southern Police District Superintendent John Watson said he suspected a local and a Perth-based bike club were involved in the local drug trade.

"During the operation, and after interviewing people, it is now established several people are associated with the local God's Garbage bikie gang," he said.

"Furthermore, that week we identified three heavily-tattooed bikies from a Perth-based group who were in town at the time."

Supt Watson believed the operation would be extended and more arrests were likely.

"We had a positive hit from 15 houses and what usually happens is, after looking at documents and around the house, it leads to further targets," he said.

"This was the case with last year's Operation Hightide.

"The tentacles of organised crime, particularly in the drug trade, extended through to Albany, Denmark, Mt Barker, Wagin and further.

"This operation has pointed us in the direction and we are continuing to look further into the bikie link."

There were 22 police officers involved in the operation.

Officers were seconded from the local Tactical Investigation Group, Narrogin Crime Team, Albany and Katanning Detectives and the Mt Barker, Denmark and Albany Police Stations.

Investigations for the operation began last November.

Supt Watson said he would not hesitate to invoke the Proceeds of Crime Act to seize homes, vehicles and assets for anyone who dealt with drugs.

He said Ippon was martial arts term which mean pressure point.

"Our aim is to put pressure on the drug dealers," said Supt Watson.

o put pressure on the drug dealers," said Supt Watson.
