The Great (big pain in the arse..) Rebuild!

What a week, busy shifting, so not much bike work done, managed to do the first 100km yeasterday, so its change the oil today. Bike ran well, kept it pretty slow, up to about 100kms/hr on the frreway section of the shift. Still gotta do the instrument mounts tween the tanks. Bloody throttle cables hit the tank on the RHS on full lock, so there'll be a change of bars soon. Also those risers will not stay straight, too much leverage without a common top cap...Committed my trademark butchery on the stator cables...soldered extensions to the regulator wires as the plug wouldnt stay in, due to the repairs I had ta do to the cables that were cut when the stator was in the old motor...Now if I had more dough Id replace it....Gotta find some gas caps that fit the odd fittings these tanks have got...pictures next couple of days...

Nearly there in this shot, gotta put the rear guard on...Started the motor with a tube and a funnel full of gas, sounds louder than the old one and sharp...The paints still a disaster, but I give up, itll do for now...hard when ya dont know what ya doing! Thats my son waiting for a test ride, and wondering if he can poison my whisky tonight and keep the bike.....

Off the stand and rear guard on. Had to adjust the struts on the frame with a 3 pound sledge so everything lined up again, b rear guard was about 1 1/2 inches off center. Redid the timing, didnt want to start at first, suspect the crank moved when I was doing it the first time by myself..moral, get a helper!
