Assembly Time

Picked up the bits today, 2 new pistons, rebored cylinders, recon head. All up with gaskets just under a grand. Redgraves in Thornleigh did the job, nice bunch of guys to deal with.

This is as far as I can go today, need a ring compressor, which a mates gonna lend me tomorrow. My little sausages aint dexterous enough to slip the rings in without one. Cos the gudgeon hole is thru the oil ring area, pistons have to go on the con rods first.

Got the pistons on easy enough, sweated on the rings tho, Ive got a bad history of breaking em from the old Triumph days.

41/8" bore, big buggers. Bloody oil ring is a 4 piece, but none of the literature tell you where the 4th bit goes..Remembered from pulling the thing to bits it was at the bottom(I hope..)

Nice shiny reconned head looks a bit better.

I managed to destroy the page I did about pulling the thing to bits , so the pics are below...

the old piston and rear barrell were in perfect nick...couldve left em alone...

not easy pulling the rocker gear and box with the engine in the frame...used a socket allen Id made for the starter motor, after cutting it down, to get the recessed bolts

allen key getting the center pair of 6 bolts

disconnect the compression release here...

rocker cover comes off easy enuf...something has to...

sad condition...
