THREE bikies and two women have been arrested and charged on the Gold Coast after the state’s anti-bikie taskforce launched a series of raids across the city.
Taskforce Maxima detectives raided two homes in Varsity Lakes on Tuesday 29 November where they uncovered a stash of steroids and restricted drugs.
Two men aged 26 and 27 were arrested and charged with possessing dangerous and restricted drugs. Police allege they are both patched members of the Hells Angels outlaw motorcycle gang.
The older man is also alleged to be the club’s office bearer. Both men will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on January 9.
Meanwhile, officers raided a house in Carrara yesterday where they allegedly found approximately 75 grams of ‘ice’, a stash of cannabis and drug utensils.
As a result, a 44-year-old Carrara man who police allege is a patched member of the Nomads outlaw motorcycle gang was arrested and charged with multiple offences including possessing dangerous drugs and ammunition.
He was remanded in custody overnight to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court today.
Two women, aged 32 and 33, were also arrested at the Carrara address. The younger woman from Carrara was charged with possessing dangerous drugs and ammunition and will face Southport Magistrates Court on 10 January.
The 33-year-old woman from Chevron Island was allegedly found in possession of a counterfeit $50 note. She’s been charged with possessing a restricted drug and tainted property.
“Once again, we are finding OMCG members in possession of dangerous drugs.
Detective Superintendent Michael Niland said Taskforce Maxima would continue to target outlaw motorcycle gangs on the Coast.
“Members of this OMCG gang have been arrested on multiple occasions and they need to understand, if they continue to offend they will be targeted,” Det Supt Niland said. “We make no apologies for this.”
“Offenders need to understand enforcement action will be taken whenever we have the sufficient evidence.
“We will come back as many times as it is necessary. The community expect us to do this and accordingly, we will be unrelenting in our efforts.”
