Hundreds of bikers ride out for Kristy

HUNDREDS of bikers have ridden out to raise money for Kristy Thomson.

A procession of 129 motorcycle riders left the Allies Hotel at about 10am on Sunday and made their way to the Harcourt Tavern and Braidie’s Tavern in Strathfieldsaye to support the cause.

The riders returned at to Allies at 12.30pm ready for an afternoon of music, food, an auction, face painting and a raffle in the beer garden with all proceeds going to the Kristy Thomson Appeal.

Lar Eiffe, one of the event organisers, said it was a “fantastic day”.

“I got involved because I am a good friend of Kristy’s dad and uncle and it is an important cause," she said.

“There has been a good turn out.

“We are hoping to get to the top of our money chart and raise $15,000. That would be nice.

“There are some good prizes in the auction.”

Kristy’s stepfather Geoff Dudley, who was also on the ride out, said the support for Kristy has been "overwhelming".

“It’s bloody terrific,” he said.

“This is huge.

“We had Kristy on the phone and showed her everyone here and she was stoked.

“She is getting out of the Talbot next week.

“She is going alright, she is staying pretty positive.”

Rebels Motorcycle Club vice president Frank Guarneri said it was a great way to show support.

“We have gone to the last couple of events and we led the pack for the last part of the run," he said.

“It was an unfortunate accident and I think it has affected everyone in some way or another.

"This is a great way for everyone to show their support."

Ange Fadersen from the Allies Motorcycle club said it was an important cause.

“My sister had very similar injuries so I know how much rehab she is going to need and the cost of it," she said.

“This ride out has been fantastic.”
