A GOLD Coast man has been charged with drug trafficking after a bikie taskforce raided his Nerang home, finding a large amount of cash.

Taskforce Maxima detectives raided the Dugandan St address yesterday morning in relation to a statewide investigation.

The raid was part of an investigation into drug trafficking involving the Outlaws and Rebels outlaw motorcycle gangs.

The investigation led officers from the Whitsundays to the Gold Coast where the 38-year-old Nerang man was arrested on six charges.

He was charged with drug trafficking, trafficking in MDMA and cannabis, supply drugs, possession of things used in the commission of a crime, possession of proceeds of crime and one charge of importation of a border-controlled drug.

Detective Acting Inspector Tim Leadbetter said it was a good result to get the trafficker off the streets.

“The charges laid against this man are an indication of his alleged standing in the criminal underworld,” he said.

“The man went to great lengths to hide his criminal activities with encrypted devices.”

The investigation is ongoing and more properties on the Coast and in North Queensland may be raided.

The man charged is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court this morning.
