Bikies targeted in drug raids across Townsville

DRUGS, weapons and cash have been seized in Townsville, during a week long operation led by Taskforce Maxima, targeting bikie gangs.

Ice, MDMA, amphetamines, steroids, cannabis and other restricted drugs worth over $100,000 were seized during the operation, along with a pump action shotgun, a hydroponic set up and over $12,000 in cash were also seized in the raids.

Task Force Maxima detective Senior Sergeant Russell Jones said the operations were targeted at the unlawful activities of Outlaw Motor Cycle Gangs and their networks.

“We have a statewide remit and work closely with regional police,” detective Senior Sergeant Jones said.

“Once again we are locating and seizing unlawful weapons and drugs during operations which,

importantly, creates a safer community for all.”

Eleven men and three women aged between 19 years and 52 years have been charged with a total of 52 offences including supply, produce and possess dangerous drugs, possess restricted drugs, possession of things used in connection with drug offences, possess property suspected as proceeds of crime, weapons offences and unlawful possession of a restricted item.

Twelve people are scheduled to appear before the Townsville Magistrates Court on November 21 with two others appearing on December 14.
