  • Bandidos gang member charged over attempted assault, affray

A member of the Bandidos gang has been arrested over the alleged attempted assault of a man at Parramatta.

Police were called to a shopping centre about 5pm on July 18 following reports of a disturbance.

It’s alleged a man confronted another man inside a clothing store and attempted to assault him with a baseball bat.

The man, aged 35, wasn't injured and has refused to assist police with information about the assault.

A clothing rack was knocked over during the affray.

Police from the State Crime Command’s Gangs Squad have been investigating the incident, which is alleged to have been gang-related.

Following inquiries, a 38-year-old man was arrested by Strike Force Raptor officers at Parramatta Police Station about 11.30am yesterday (July 28).

The Strathfield man, a member of the Bandidos gang, was charged with affray; armed with intent to commit indictable offence (assault); and possess offensive implement in a public place.

He was given conditional bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on August 24.

Inquiries are continuing and investigators are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

Strike Force Raptor was established by State Crime Command’s Gangs Squad in 2009. It is a proactive and high-impact operation targeting outlaw motorcycle gangs and any associated criminal enterprises
