Finks bikie pleads not guilty to 'nude' bashing

A NUDE Finks bikie who allegedly bashed an accused murderer in the Southport Watch-house will plead not guilty despite the incident being captured on security cameras, a court has been told.

It is understood the alleged victim has not made a complaint against Kris Spizzirri, who has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.

Spizzirri was wearing only a towel when he allegedly attacked cellmate Christopher Cairns in the watch-house on May 27.

Cairns had been arrested over the murder of Gold Coast nightclub promoter Tumara 'Tumma' Cousins, who plunged 31 floors to his death from the balcony of his Beachcomber Resort high-rise unit in Surfers Paradise last month.

Mr Cousins is believed to have been friends with Spizzirri, who police alleged bashed Cairns in a frenzied 90-second attack.

Spizzirri had just come from the showers and his towel slipped during the alleged attack, police say.

His lawyer, Adam Magill, told Southport Magistrates Court on Friday that Spizzirri would be pleading not guilty. The case was adjourned until September 4 for a summary trial.

Other charges, including serious assault of a police officer, were also adjourned.

Spizzirri is also facing drug trafficking charges, stemming from a police operation late last year targeting the Finks.

Meanwhile, Spizzirri's brother Dion - also a Finks gang member - pleaded guilty on Friday to possessing a small quantity of amphetamines. He was fined $1000.
