Two hurt in alleged bikie assault

LEE RONDGANGER, The West Australian September 4, 2010, 9:52 am

Two security guards at a Northbridge nightclub were allegedly assaulted by members of a bikie gang after refusing them entry last night.

Police said the brawl erupted about 12.30am when members of the Rebels motorcycle gang tried to enter the Library nightclub on Lake Street.

The gang members were reportedly refused entry to the nightclub by security.

During the fracas, a 38-year-old security guard and his 22-year-old colleague were injured. The 22-year-old was taken to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital with facial injuries.

Police today said that inquiries into the brawl were continuing. No one had been arrested.

However, two people - a 35-year-old Ballajura man and a 37-year-old Rockingham woman - were arrested over a separate incident that occurred nearby.

The man was arrested for allegedly punching a man and the woman was arrested for allegedly obstructing police.

A police spokeswoman said the arrests were not connected to the nightclub brawl.
