A unique range of
reptiles, spiders and other animals was yesterday found by Strike
Force Raptor officers who also seized drugs and motorcycles in
Sydney’s west.
Officers conducted a search warrant yesterday (Thursday 31 March) at
a property on the Prospect Highway, Prospect, following
investigations into alleged drug activity linked to the ‘Rebels’
outlaw motorcycle gang.
There police found quantities of cannabis leaf, cannabis seed,
hashish and an unidentified white powder. Two motorcycles were also
seized, including one which was reported stolen.
Also located was a collection of unique fauna, including an American
corn snake, a Chinese soft-backed turtle, a Mexican tarantula, four
tree frogs and a chameleon dragon.
A 34-year-old Prospect man has been charged with supply prohibited
drug, two counts of possess prohibited drug, five counts of possess
prohibited fauna and one count each of goods in custody and
receiving stolen property.
He was granted conditional bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court
on 28 April.
Strike Force Raptor was established by the State Crime Command’s
Gangs Squad in 2009 and is a proactive, high-impact operation
targeting outlaw motorcycle gangs and their alleged associated
criminal enterprises.
