A 30-YEAR veteran and patched member of the Gypsy Jokers bikie gang has been charged with a number of serious drug offences after a series of raids by police.

Following search warrants at a home and business premises in Maddington and Bellevue police allegedly found approximately 440g methylamphetamine, 11g of cannabis, more than $35,000 in cash and .22 calibre ammunition.

A 52-year-old Maddington man has been charged over the drug haul.

Serious and organised crime squad Superintendent Charlie Carver says the man is a 30-year veteran of the Gypsy Jokers.

The 52-year-old man appeared in the Midland Magistrate’s Court today charged with possession of methylamphetamine with intent to sell/supply, possession of cannabis and possession of a smoking implement.

Further inquiries in relation to another patched member of the bikie gang over the drug haul are still being carried out.

Supt Carver said: “Previously you have heard me say that the OMCGs (Outlaw Motor Cycle Gangs) get annoyed when I say OMCGs are associated with drug distribution,” Supt Carver said.

“Well this shows that the apple does not fall far from the tree.”

A 30-year-old Bellevue woman was also charged with disobeying a notice to attend court while a 16-year-old boy from Bellevue was charged with possession of cannabis following the raids.
